Supporting Women’s Recovery: NASSCORP Donates to Strengthen Mental Health Rehabilitation

A meaningful step towards supporting women’s mental health has recently taken place in Liberia. The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) has donated US$2,500 to support outreach, identification and rehabilitation services for women experiencing mental, neurological and substance use challenges at our centre.

While the amount may seem modest, the impact can be significant. Contributions like this help open doors to care for women who might otherwise remain invisible within the healthcare system.

Reaching Women Who Often Remain Unseen

Many women facing mental health or substance use challenges encounter multiple barriers at once — stigma, poverty, social isolation or limited access to treatment. As a result, many never reach the services that could support their recovery.

The support from NASSCORP will help strengthen essential steps in the care pathway, including community outreach, early assessment, referral coordination and the first stages of rehabilitation. These actions make it possible to identify women in need of support and accompany them towards appropriate care.

Through this initiative, more women will have the opportunity to begin a structured rehabilitation journey focused not only on treatment, but also on restoring confidence, dignity and connection with their communities.

Building Partnerships for Mental Health

Mental health care cannot be strengthened by one organisation alone. It requires collaboration between communities, healthcare providers and institutions committed to social wellbeing.

This contribution reflects NASSCORP’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations beyond traditional social protection. By investing in mental health rehabilitation, the organisation highlights the importance of addressing psychological wellbeing as part of broader social care.

Restoring Hope and Opportunity

At our centre, rehabilitation is about much more than managing symptoms. It is about helping women rebuild their lives — strengthening skills, reconnecting with their families and finding renewed confidence to move forward.

Support like this helps make those journeys possible. It allows more women to access care, begin recovery and rediscover their place within their communities.

We are grateful to NASSCORP for recognising that mental health support is essential for building stronger and more inclusive societies. Partnerships like this bring us closer to a future where every woman has the opportunity to receive the care and dignity she deserves.
