15 Apr Raising awareness and supporting recovery
We continue working within the community to support, inform and walk alongside people facing mental health and substance use challenges
At We Are Like You (WALY), we believe that change begins with understanding, connection and showing up for one another.
As part of this commitment, we recently carried out a mental health awareness outreach activity in Monrovia, focused on supporting individuals experiencing substance use challenges.
The session created a safe and open space where participants could talk, listen and learn. Together, we explored the impact of addiction, challenged stigma and encouraged honest conversations around mental health.
More than sharing information, the focus was on connection. Through dialogue and counselling, participants were reminded that they are not alone and that recovery is possible. Being heard, even in small moments, can be the first step towards change.
We also introduced the support available through WALY, encouraging people to seek help early and to see care as something accessible and close to them.
Moments like these reflect what WALY stands for: a community where people feel seen, supported and respected.
We are grateful to Jeety Corporation for supporting this initiative by providing meals for participants, helping create a more welcoming and inclusive environment.
At WALY, we continue to walk alongside individuals and communities, promoting dignity, hope and recovery, one conversation at a time.
