23 May A New Step Forward for Mental Health Care in Liberia
Today, WALY celebrates the inauguration of a new mental health facility, a project created to support recovery, dignity and hope for individuals and families in Liberia
Today is a day of hope, growth and new beginnings for mental health care in Liberia.
At We Are Like You (WALY), we are proud to celebrate the inauguration of a new mental health facility, a space created to support people on their journey towards recovery and reintegration into the community.
The opening ceremony brings together healthcare professionals, community leaders, residents, families, donors and representatives committed to improving mental health support and creating more accessible care for those who need it most.
Throughout the event, speakers will reflect on the importance of dignity, compassion and community-based mental health care. The programme also includes recovery testimonies, institutional addresses, the blessing of the facility and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This new facility represents more than infrastructure. It represents possibility.
A possibility for people to access support in a safe and respectful environment.
A possibility for recovery stories to continue growing.
A possibility for families to find hope again.
At WALY, we believe mental health care should be rooted in humanity, inclusion and connection. Every step forward matters, and today we celebrate one that will impact many lives.
This inauguration is not only about opening doors to a new facility. It is about opening doors to new opportunities, new beginnings and a future where mental health is treated with the care and importance it deserves.
Healing minds. Restoring lives. Building hope. Together, we create a healthier tomorrow.
