20 Apr 2015 The incoming and outgoing Liberian Health Ministers show their support for “We Are Like You”

Dr. Walter T. Gwenigale, former Minister of Health and Social Welfare, and Dr. Bernice Dahn, who has recently replaced him as Minister, have shown their support for the “We Are Like You” mental health project. In two interviews conducted last week, both were interested in the details of the project and expressed their support.

Felicia Gbortsu and Inca González, both Sisters Hospitallers, as well as Mikel Tellaeche, managing director of the Aita Menni Hospital, have been included as members of the Mental Health Technical Coordinating Committee, which is responsible for developing the Strategic Plan and the implementation of new mental health programs under the previous “Mental Health Policy” document of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

The Committee greatly appreciates the initiative of the Sisters Hospitallers and the contributions they make in the field of mental health, incorporating the experience of other countries. The initiative of Sister Barbara Brilliant (director of Mother Patern College of Sciences, representing the Catholic National Health Council at the Ministry and belonging to various ministerial commissions) and her collaboration in the project’s development has been fundamental.
